Mission

The Coast Guard Family Organization (CGFO) was established for Coast Guard families, with a strong focus on the spouses of the members of the USCG. The goals of the Organization are philanthropic in nature, and, as such, the Organization is seeking non-profit 501(c)(3) status.

The Board of Directors of CGFO consists of volunteers. The Board and counselors act to serve the Coast Guard family community in the way of education, providing of resources, and advocacy. This organization is nonpartisan and is not politically motivated.

Counselors will offer financial and personal and development mentorship upon request by eligible Coast Guard spouses. Additionally, the CGFO has established a Coast Guard Spouse Scholarship and the initial award shall be distributed in the summer of 2009. Monies for said scholarship shall be provided as a result of various fundraisers and donations provided to the fund.

The quarterly newsletter shall be available to all who sign up for it via email. Interested parties may contact admin@coastguardfamily.org to sign up.

Purpose and Funding

The CGFO shall serve and make efforts to provide support to Coast Guard spouses. Spouses who wish to apply for the annual scholarship or utilize the services of the staff at CGFO, must be a current spouse of a member of the United States Coast Guard (active duty or reserve). Certain information may be requested to verify a spouse’s eligibility. Services are provided to eligible Coast Guard spouses free of charge.

Fundraising efforts shall be made to provide funds for various philanthropic ventures of the Organization, including, but not limited to the Coast Guard Spouse Scholarship.

At present, CGFO is entirely self-funded. Individual and corporate donations are welcome to support scholastic giving and continued training at CGFO. The CGFO receives no funding from any federal or state agency.
